General Info
Expectations
As members of staff, we are expected to be respectful and helpful to members of the community. We are here to make sure that the server stays a safe and welcoming place for everyone, by answering new players’ questions, fixing grief, resolving disputes, monitoring chat, and issuing mutes, kicks, warnings, bans, etc. in a fair and effective manner.
Members of staff are expected to be prudent with sharing staff information to members. Warnings/bans, vanish mode, ore announcer, or any otherwise staff-related information is not to be discussed in main chat, other public channels, and/or with any non-staff. Please keep all staff discussion in staff chat in-game, and in the staff discord out-of-game!
Teleporting & Tomfoolery
As a staff member, you now have the power to teleport to someone immediately with /tp! Please do not abuse this! This command is only for staff purposes, such as shadowing new players. /tpa is free, so please don't scare our players by tping to them with no warning. This includes using /tphere !
You also have the ability to use /disguise, don't abuse this either! It is for fun, and we always encourage that! However, we ask that you do not use it to scare other players or tease/taunt them!
Yes, you are able to ban yourself and other staff members. We do not need you to test this, and if you do, you will have to appeal, and you will most likely be demoted. We understand that it's fun to fool around and joke, but banning yourself and others as a joke creates work for others and is not funny to us! This same rule applies to other corrective actions as a joke as well
Activity & Playtime
All staff members have a number of hours they are required to play per week. This is measured by active time, not AFK time.
Role | Playtime Requirement |
---|---|
Aide | 3 hours/week |
Mod | 4 hours/week |
Op/Admin | 6 hours/week |
If you have 0 playtime without communication to leading staff for over a week, we will reach out to you. If we notice this happen multiple times, it will result in a demotion.
We understand if you need a break! Taking care of yourself is important! Please reach out to Dom or Lectriz to communicate your leave of absence.
Communication is key!
Promotions
An Op position is not to be taken lightly, so a promotion is not given due to seniority, we look for consistency, positive effort in the community, and a good understanding of our systems as staff!
Do not worry if someone gets promoted before you! This doesn't necessarily reflect your performance, but could just mean that someone else is able to be more consistently online more often, or other factors unrelated to you. No hard feelings!
Duties
The Basics
Staff duties include and are not limited⋆ to:
▸ Shadowing new players
▸ Answering new players' questions about the server
▸ Identifying and correctly reading logs for grief with Core Protect
▸ Sorting donated items at the Donation Station
▸ Settling player disputes & effectively moderating chat
▸ Issuing warnings, kicks, mutes, & bans correctly and effectively per server rules(⋆ Duties may vary slightly depending on role. See this page for Aide duties)
Communication
Communication is of the most importance! Nobody is a mind-reader, so please use the staff discord and in-game staff chat to communicate with your fellow staffers!General chatter in staff chat is okay, just please don't clog it up if there is a staff-related discussion already happening!
Excessively speaking about staff-related things in main chat may result in a warning. As will causing arguments with fellow staffers. Remember, we are here to help and support each other!
*Remember, please do NOT mute the staff Discord server! You may mute channels such as #bots or #chat, but please do NOT mute #help or #announcements
New Players
Every new player must be shadowed. Please communicate to your fellow staffers when you go to shadow a new player in staff chat!Upon claiming a newbie, you must send a Welcome Message. The outline for that is as follows:
▸Welcome them (addressing them also helps)
▸Make them aware of our rules (/rules)
▸Mention the donation station & the info center (either direct them to where they are, or mention the warps)You may word this however you like, as long as it's nice and understandable! You can also split this into several messages if you'd like, whatever feels right. Just remember that it can't be too long- we don't want to overload them with info right off the bat!
Check out some examples you can copy/paste here!Mod+ staff are expected to shadow in game mode spectator. For Aides this will be accomplished with just vanish mode. Please remember to toggle off your particle hats before shadowing.New players should be shadowed immediately after they join for at least until you see them leave spawn, as it is sometimes difficult to tell players intentions when they are in a spawn-protected area. If they seem like trouble, then they should definitely be shadowed for longer!Once you are sure they are good to go, be sure to communicate to fellow staffers as well!
Shopping District Removals
Shop Warnings
Before a shop can be removed, you must give the shop owner a warning.Warnings are issued for the following:
▸ No stock
▸ No shop villager
▸ Shop not accessible by foot
▸ 3 months inactivity (check with /seen)The shop owner must receive a warning before removal. In order to issue a warning, you must send a letter about it, and leave a sign in front of their shop. Do not place the sign on the road, you may place it in the doorway or in front of the villager if needed. Unlock the sign and lock the text with a honeycomb. Examples below.
Warning Examples
Feel free to copy & paste one of these for your warnings!
Hey! Via our shopping district guidelines, all shops must have stock. Please stock by (date) to avoid shop removal. /build
Hey! Via our shopping district guidelines, all shops must have a shop villager. Please place a shop villager by (date) to avoid removal. /build
Hey! Via our shopping district guidelines, all shops must be accessible by foot so all players may visit! Please amend this by (date) in order to avoid shop removal. /build
Hey! Via our shopping district guidelines, shops are slated for removal after 3 months of inactivity from the shop owner. If you have not logged in by (date), your shop may be removed. /build
Shop Removals
Shops should only be removed following a proper warning given to the shop owner.Do NOT rollback a shop to remove it. Use world edit so you may select a specific area and leave shops around undisturbed. Before removing the shop, go ahead and check it for custom banners, player heads, mapart, and shulker boxes. Deliver these items to their homes and send them a separate letter letting them know their collectable items have been returned to them.If this is concerning an inactive player, please double check /seen before removal.
Removal Timeframes
These are a general rule of thumb for the timeframe we tend to give people to fix what they are being warned for.
Issue/Warning Reason | Timeframe |
---|---|
No stock | 2 weeks |
No shop villager | 1 week |
Shop inaccessible | 1 week |
3 months inactivity | 1 week |
Logging
Warning and removal logs must be kept in the #sd-log
channel in the staff discord. For any grief within the shopping districts, go to #warn-log
or #ban-log
When logging warnings, please provide a date for which the player's warning expires and their shop is set to be removed.
For any questions regarding shop warnings, removals, or logs, please ask Jay or Dom!

Procedures
Warnings
Warnings can be given to ensure players know our rules. Mainly used so we have a record of when some players have broken the rules.Warnings will be issued either in main chat, in-game dm or in-game letters*Warnings will be issued for:
▸ First grief offenses (minor grief)
▸ NSFW or otherwise inappropriate messages (if you wouldn't let a 12 year old read it, it shouldn't be said in chat!)
▸ Spam (this can include constant caps usage in some cases)
▸ Pretty much any minor first-time rule break* see commands page on how to send a letter, and check out the warning example page for an idea of what to say in a warning letter!
Mutes & Kicks
Mutes & kicks will also be logged as warnings. Please specify in logs which action was taken.Mutes will be used for:
▸ Shutting down continuous arguing (preceded by a warning from staff to stop)
▸ Spamming chat
▸ Minor inappropriate chat behaviorKicks will be used for:
▸ Removing alt accounts (i.e. someone using 2 accounts at once)
▸ Minor cheats (auto-rejoin mods, anti-afk machines, etc.)
Proof
Screenshot and/or video proof is required for all logs. For records & appeals-sake, we need proof for all bans and warnings. When including this in the appropriate logging channel, please upload video evidence to youtube (unlisted), and include link without preview (this is done with <> around the link in discord). When including screenshot proof of more than 10 images, please upload them to a private imgur album and include link (same as video).Video recording software of some kind is required, as you need a way to capture footage of possible hackers. Purely photographic evidence on most hacking bans is not sufficient. If you are not sure what to do, or what action to take with a player who is misbehaving, please reach out to other staff! we're here to help each other!
Bans & Temporary Bans
Bans are used to remove players temporarily or permanently from the server. If you feel an IP ban is needed (eg. a troll with 5+ alt accounts) please alert Lectriz or Zephyr. Please consider the severity of the players actions as well as their intent before settling on a ban! When logging, please specify which action was taken.Bans will be used for:
▸ Racism/homophobia/transphobia/prejudice speech
▸ Griefing (for this, consider their playtime, severity of grief, and any prior warnings or bans)
▸ Hacking (eg. fly hacks, x-rays, speed hacks, water walking, etc.)
▸ Duping / Game exploitationTemporary Bans will be used for:
▸ Continued breaking of rules despite multiple staff warnings
▸ Temp bans are more useful for longtime players who mess up a lot or in a big way. (eg. multiple minor griefs over a long period of time followed by one larger grief, multiple inappropriate chat comments over a short period of time, consistent causing of drama in chat, etc.)When banning someone- remember that they are not allowed to speak in discord chat.
If they continue to talk in chat after being asked to stop, go ahead and ban their discord account as well. If this occurs during a tempban period, you may time-out the account. If they are just asking for the appeal link, go ahead and give it to them and let them know they are banned so they should not be speaking in Discord.
Appeals
If a banned player asks to appeal or speak to upper staff, just go ahead and send this link:https://tfm.uwu.ai/#appealIf someone you banned gets appealed, don't sweat it! You didn't do anything wrong- this is just part of our appeal process!
note for mods/aides
If you discover a grief, please ask an Op for a rollback! Please get your log screenshots before the rollback as well. You may ping the Op role in the staff Discord by doing @Op in the #help or the #chat channels.
